Dr. John Strasser grew up in Ohio and New York as a youngster. He attended the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, and graduated in 1974. He moved immediately to North Carolina in the Charlotte area, where with two partners, he started and owned practices in Salisbury, Concord, Kannapolis, Mt. Pleasant, Lexington and Davidson/Cornelius from 1974 to 1982.
After visiting friends in the Raleigh area, Dr. Strasser saw the potential growth and superior quality of living here, and moved to the Triangle in 1983 and founded the Kildaire Animal Medical Center in Cary. As the region grew, he created, with partners, three other practices: Town & Country Animal Care Center and Hospital (two facilities), Gentle Care Animal Hospital and Preston Animal Hospital. He continues his most ambitious project in building a new concept in 21st Century Veterinary Medicine, Carolina Ranch Animal Hospital & Resort.
Professionally, Dr. Strasser has a longstanding interest in English Bulldog medicine, surgery and reproduction. He has bred, raised and shown his “Bullies” for years. He is the proud father of four college-graduated children: Veronica (UNC), Molly (Winthrop), Lauren (NCSU) and Brad (NCSU/Wake Tech). He has six wonderful grandkids that he hopes will all be veterinarians someday. Dr. Strasser lives in Cary with his wife, Pam, and also has a slight love affair playing golf, relaxing at a beach condo, and fishing in Canada!
